Chuma, [02 Jun 2023 at 06:42:58]: Morning! Has any anybody walked elephant and buffalo? What are the techniques - drug combo and dosages? In your experiences, what is the best way to push from the land elephant into water and how far can they safely swim? Alex Lewis, [02 Jun 2023 at 09:32:51]: Buffalo are easy to walk some distance through rough terrain. Elephants smaller than 1.7 also, but never tried the big ones 😨😨 David Pretorius, [02 Jun 2023 at 18:09:54]: On buffalo you can use Thianil 0.7mg + medetomidine 6mg + azaperone 20 mg. They should be able to walk without any reversal. You have to be quick on them and prod them, no blindfold needed. If the buffalo go down, they get deeper and deeper up to about 20-25 min and become shallower at about 45 mins. Once they are up, you should be able to walk them very far. Buffalo are easy to control once they are up on their legs. If you struggle give them 2.5mg butorphanol iv and after 5 min a prod or 2 should get them going. Douw Grobler, [02 Jun 2023 at 21:52:26]: Etorphine works just as well. As a general rule you can go about 10 to 15 % higher on your etorphine dosage. In my opinion, etorphine on certain species works better with the HH dosages. Chuma, [02 Jun 2023 at 22:09:59]: Okay, thanks. Hendrik Hansen, [03 Jun 2023 at 07:50:15]: You can also replace etorphine with fentanyl if you can find fentanyl! Douw Grobler :
