Zoe Glyphis [ 6 Nov 2023] Any advice on resolving a uterine prolapse in a waterbuck cow? Her calf is already about 2 months old so I know it's not the classic predisposition for a uterine prolapse. Does one reduce it and place a Buhner stitch like a domestic cow but use a dissolvable suture material? Or are there better options? Henry Labuschagne, [06 Nov 2023 at 11:01:53]: She is in poor condition. It is not ethical to just leave her. Darting and treating comes with considerable risk and cost. If prolapse is necrotic, amputation must be done. (This however only makes economic sense if she still nurses the calf). Aftercare could be an issue. Boma confinement after intervention is advisable. Do not use absorbable sutures after reduction.
