From where I am standing it looks like a severe azaperone under-dosage and a case of mistaken identity in a giraffe trailerโฆ.๐. [2022/03/28, 21:39:33] Shaun Roper: Shit happens! The animal eventually settled down and safely ended up in the boma. Definitely not enough azaperone, very bumpy road and a trailer that needs some re-thinking. [2022/03/28, 21:41:31] Shaun Beverley: Ey Shaun, what did you use to get him to calm down after he was this irritated? [2022/03/28, 21:49:55] Shaun Roper: Midazolam. It was all I had on me. 30mg did the trick. He was actually relaxed but found that weak point in the trailer that gave when he pushed and he just started working it more and more, and when he tore it open he went beserk! [2022/03/28, 21:53:22] Shaun Beverley: ๐๐ป [2022/03/28, 22:03:09] Ulf Tubessing: I had a white rhino bull behave in a similar way after what I believe was an overdose of azaperone. I gave him a good dose and the transporter decided he can do it better gave another dose "to make sure". We ended up offloading and releasing the bugger. He started squeaking like stuck pig, jumping and eventually going down in dorsal recumbency in crate. Literally had to shake him out of the crate!
