Ulf Tubessing, 4 Nov 2024 Every now and then we get asked to move ostrich (semi-habituated) and for me it used to be a challenge. There is very little useful information in the literature. Today I darted 2 adult males with 12 mg medetomidine and 10 mg butorphanol. Within 5-6 minutes one can catch and handle them. These were walked for 300 m into a different camp and then reversed with naltrexone and atipamezole/yohimbine. The easiest ostrich job ever!! Gary Bauer, 4 Nov 2024 Very interesting Ulf - great to hear. Erik Verrynne, 4 Nov 2024. Great to know Ulf. Cheers!!
