Dr Usman, [11 Feb 2024 at 17:15:49]: Hello, good evening Here is a leopard female about 6 kg body weight, rescued from poachers It was in terrible condition, hypothermic ( the whole body was cold). She has been abused, canines broken, incisors also damaged (possible she was struggling to get herself free) There are blood clots in the nasal passages. The skin is badly effected, possibly from mite infestation History of force feeding by poachers (bottle-feeding). After initial emergency treatment, her temperature stabilized She has received cefotaxime Na 250mg antibiotic OID. She has now started taking in food, but the wheezing/dyspnea is still there And she has too much gas I will manage to get chest X-rays in a day or two - there could be aspiration pneumonia, now her temperatures ranges between 101 F and 103 F. I would appreciate all of your recommendations please Erik Verrynne, [11 Feb 2024 at 17:34:02]: How old do you estimate her to be? It is difficult to see on the photo how old she is. But she may still need milk and that can explain the gas. Kitty Milk available in SA works wonders with them. It may be better to give smaller amounts of meat more often until she has adapted. I agree. Inspiration pneumonia is a possible DD. Henry Labuschagne, [11 Feb 2024 at 17:34:10]: Monitor QBC I would also nebulise and put in O2 cage. X ray chest asap. Anti-inflammatories added to antibiotics. Cefotaxime oid not good enough - can go up to q6 hrs Usman, 16 Feb 2024
