Henry Labuschagne, [24 Aug 2022 I have a client who is exporting Bengal tigers. The Health Certificate stipulates the name and dose of drug that must be used to treat haemoparasites, Nobody can tell me what injections need to be given prophylactically for haemoparasites. I am thinking Imodocarb?? Elmien Kotze, [24 Aug 2022 at 11:49:58]: Primaquin injections rather? At the coast we have a lot of problems with Babesia felis - we inject Primaquin and diminazene in the "large" type Babesias we see on the blood smear. I have not used imodocarb yet Henry Labuschagne, [24 Aug 2022 at 11:52:49]: Will it be acceptable as prophylactic? Diminizine surely not to be repeated after 2 weeks. Elmien Kotze, [24 Aug 2022 Government officials are generally not logical - so if they say 2 injections 2 weeks apart - primaquin the safest. Other possible haemoparasites most likely will respond to doxycycline. Most haemoparasites you never get rid off completely, so if you want to make sure your side is covered in the best way, maybe do an oral course of doxycycline for 10 days. I am however speaking from experience with domestic felines from the coastal areas where Babesia and other doxycycline responsive diseases are a problem. This might not be an issue in your area
