Peter Rogers, 14 June 2025 Good morning all. Has anybody used Pentosan on an animal for chronic arthritis and if so your impressions please ? Richard Harvey Morning Pete, I have used it a lot in domestic dogs. It worked well for chronic arthritis for most cases, but somewhat variable - whether managed solely on this or needing adjunctive pain relief depending on the individual. However, I have often used it somewhat off-label. After the initial 4-week course, I would do an extended interval of dosing, with steadily longer intervals, rather than stopping after the 4-week course as stipulated on the label. Henry Labuschagne Q7d @ 3mg per kg I/M.I am happy with the effect. Q7d for 4 doses, then monthly in severe cases or q 3 months long term. Xander Van Eeden Hi Pete, it works very well in small animals and horses. Use 3 mg/kg weekly for 4 weeks and then every month for life. Helps with slowing progression of the arthritis as well as ameliorating current clinical signs. I think Rob Jackson mentioned he has used it on elephant and was happy with the effect. Zaid Mahomedy, 19 June 2025 This works really well in small animals. Some patients do well on it alone, but some need an additional therapeutic.Pentosan + Rimadyl works great. You can add paracetamol if required.Pentosan + Librela have given some variable results.I am attaching a protocol that might be useful. Peter Rogers Thank you very much for this 👍🏻
