Christiaan Blignaut, [11 Jan 2023 at 16:25:07]: Good afternoon, any advice on parasite control in captive lions? My client currently uses Ecomintic for 3 consecutive days, every 3 months and Fiprotec spray every other month. Is this protocol sufficient? Or is it excessive? Is there a better spray/pour-on option than the Fiprotec? Thank you in advance Henry Labuschagne, [11 Jan 2023 at 19:39:58]: Vetscripts make a Predator deworming tablet and a Topspot (Fipronil + Imidacloprid) I find it effective and economical. Deworm every 3 months and Topspot every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the challenge. In felines, I use Fenbendazole @ 20mg per kg for 5 consecutive days. Ockert Botha, [11 Jan 2023 at 22:03:06]: Fenbendazole has a great margin of safety in Felids. A single day treatment has low efficacy, whereas 3-day treatment is highly effective. So, I would suggest alternating Vetscripts Predator deworming with Vetscripts 500 mg Fenbendazole tablets every 3 months. The fenbendazole treatment may be extended to a 5 days treatment.
