It was fully reversed – the medetomidine with yohimbine/Antisedan combination and the Thianil with Trexonil (naltrexone). 30 mg water-based perphenazine (WBP) was given 1hr ago. The animal is very quiet, standing in the bushes 100m away from the boma Bossie Boshoff, [04 Sep 2024 at 10:49:59]: I am under correction here, but think the naltrexone is 12 hours in system. With the alpha-2 agonist fully reversed, there is no option of alpha-2 agonists again for the next 3-6 hours, but then the experts on the alpha-2 agonists will know better here. The only option in my head popping up will be Zoletil with ketamine if urgent, especially if you cannot wait until the reversals have worn out. But this has a long recovery time and care will be needed then. If alpha-2 agonist was not reversed (the old combinations did not really need a reversal of the alpha-2 agonist in nyala), one can do a cheat code with haloperidol and more alpha-2 agonists which allows you to catch by hand or rope easily and to walk to the destination and just antidote the alpha-2 agonist. But maybe someone got a better idea. But if you can wait until you can dart again, you can choose which combination you want to use. Gernot Redeker, [04 Sep 2024 at 10:58:39]: Thank you Bossie. One was stabbed by another bull while it was affected by the darting combination, and the second one just went down suffocating / choking on regurgitated rumen content. But maybe just lucky.
