Dario Cremona, [13 Mar 2025 at 09:29:16]: Anyone know what moth this is? And its effect? Jacques ODell, [13 Mar 2025] Moraxella outbreak pending😆 Dario Cremona, [13 Mar 2025 at 09:29:16]: Already treating 🤣🤣 Jacques ODell, [13 Mar 2025 at 09:48:34]: Hi Dario. They are part of Noctuidae. These have been shown to be mechanical vectors for Moraxella bovis. Army worm is part of the Noctuidae. Dario, have you had large outbreaks of African army worm in your area? As far as I know, these do not feed on eye secretions, but who knows. Maybe nyala tears are a delicacy. It looks like that bull is in a boma. It would be good if you can catch a few of those moths in a net, then we can get them identified, and perhaps do cultures from them. Somewhere out there is a vector for BMCF… one day we will find it. Dario, I think this is the ID of those moths on the nyala: Dario Cremona, [13 Mar 2025 at 14:02:00]: No army worm close to us fortunately! The animals are in camps, but not that small either. I saw outbreaks of pink eye on the farm few weeks before the moth appeared, which is strange.Â
