[2022/03/11, 16:23:02] Douw Grobler: Has anyone had success treating this type of bone lesions? Very little pus. [2022/03/11, 16:41:57] Louis Greeff: Douw. I flush them with oxytetracycline pessaries dissolved in Acriflavine. I put a Jelco in front leg vein and give Tetracycline and Sodium Iodide as primary treatment. Have to repeat it weekly for 6 weeks. In severe cases I use also Nuflor as adjunctive antibiotic. Without Sodium Iodide you won’t succeed. I had two jaws that fractured eventually. Others always have a big lump on their jaw, but they go on. Another point to consider is facial paralysis because of damage to the facial nerve. If their cud assembles in the cheek and you have to remove it every now and then, the prognosis is grave. The sooner you treat them, the better. Personally I think this one is a bit beyond repair [2022/03/11, 16:46:40] Alex Lewis: In sable, I drilled holes into bone and filled with bone cement and gentamicin. The mass stopped growing and sable was able to live until old age. The bone cement stuck out in some places but not sure if it was from hole growing closed from within or outer surface receding? [2022/03/11, 17:10:52 Henry Labuschagne: NB to rule out molar root abscess. Take X-ray Culture and antibiogram also NB [2022/03/12, 10:01:32] Gerhard Steenkamp: Also seen a squamous cell carcinoma in a buffalo jaw. Maybe take a biopsy as well? [2022/03/12, 10:02:58] Douw Grobler: Problem is owner does not want to spend any money on the case
