HO Reuter, 10 August 2924. Has anyone experienced white rhino to be a little berserk at off-loading, even with WBP (water-based perphenazine / perphenazine hydrochloride) tranquilization? What type and dosages of tranquilizers do you use, if white rhino were loaded on Thianil + medetomidine combinations? Louis Greeff, [12 Aug 2024 at 05:01:20]: HO. I have the same experience with water-based perphenazine (WBP) in white rhino. It seems that if they travel more than 6 hours, they tend to be aggressive when released from the crates. I nowadays give WBP for short translocations and Acuphase for longer translocations. I also tend to use midazolam more than Stresnil. It works better and longer. HO Reuter, [12 Aug 2024 at 06:24:37]: Thanks Louis, what dosage of midazolam and zuclopenthixol do you use on average for a mature cow / 6-7 year-old bull? Do you use human Acuphase ampoules or V-Tech’s compounded zuclopenthixol? Similarly, Dormicum vs Sedolam? Louis Greeff, [12 Aug 2024 at 17:08:34]: I use human Acuphase - 150 to 200mg on big cows and bulls. I use Sedolam – 30 mg initially and then 20 mg every 4 to 5 hrs. Let me know what you see
