David Pretorius, [15 Dec 2023 at 20:11:12]: Does anyone have dosage for addax perhaps? Kevin Robertson, [15 Dec 2023 at 23:38:24]: Hi David. There are lots of addax here in Texas and we regularly dart them from a chopper. They are generally too flighty to dart from the ground. They do not do well on BAM, but adding ketamine does help. Drugs of choice are Thianil + medetomidine. In mature animals, 3 mg Thianil + 4 mg medetomidine works great. A dose of 1 mg Thianil + 2 mg medetomidine on yearlings is considered a bit light - the down times are in the 6-minute range. Thianil is really short here now, so we are forced to switch to etorphine. 5 mg etorphine + 6 mg medetomidine was the dose used on mature animals initially, but the longer the capture takes and the more they get stirred up, the longer the down times become. The etorphine is bumped up to 6 mg for adults, and for yearlings 4 mg etorphine + 6 mg medetomidine
