Usman, [26 Nov 2023 at 07:45:49]: Hello everyone Can someone suggest a good diet plan for 1 year old Bengal tiger in captivity? Daily feeding of 4-7% of their body weight? Adrian Tordiffe, [26 Nov 2023 at 09:11:10]: At one year of age, you should introduce 1 or 2 fasting days per week. By the time the tiger is 2 years old, you should only be feeding twice a week. The diet should include whole carcass or simulated whole carcass (skin, bones, organs etc), otherwise you will need to add a supplement. You should be feeding 15 to 20kg of carcass per week. Modify this amount according to body condition scores. Usman, [26 Nov 2023 at 09:37:22]: 😊thanks Henry Labuschagne, 26 November 2023 Sound advice from Adrian. I feed them 2 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, 1 day off. Add supplements, especially if they do not have regular access to whole carcasses. I feed @ 4% BW per feeding. They tend to get bored and overweight, so what is also important is environmental enrichment, such as a waterbath / shallow pool, a large enclosure to get enough exercise etc. I recently had to operate on one that swallowed a piece of PVC waterpipe, so check for any objects in the enclosure that they might bite and swallow.
