Neil Parsons, [09 Jun 2022 at 14:12:51]: Hi David, is it not risky to use WBP in your dart? I’m thinking about SC darts, abdominal darts, bounced darts etc where you have either a partial dose or a full dose in a less than ideal location. If you don’t top up the WBP then you won’t have the desired tranquiliser effect. Deciding how much to top up will be tricky too. Personally I don’t think there is any benefit to adding it to a dart. You can’t beat a good IM injection by hand (or IV injection if you need a faster onset). Would be good to hear your reasoning behind using it in a dart Erik Verrynne, [09 Jun 2022 at 15:25:47]: Hi Neil. The advantage is the WBP kicks in faster. (Empirically) it takes about 20-30 mins to take effect. The ones that had the WBP in the dart were noticeably calmer after naltrexone/yohimbine/atipamezole reversal than the ones we had to hand inject. However, I agree with you that partial depositing darts may be a challenge. It is difficult to monitor them for long post off-loading. But in one or two where we were unsure, we repeat the full dosage of WBP and they seemed ok Neil Parsons, [09 Jun 2022 at 15:38:38]: Hi Erik, did you give any of the perphenazine IV to the hand injected ones? Erik Verrynne, [09 Jun 2022 at 15:46:16]: No. All IM. It’s a good point but others with more experience on IV effect of BWP can comment.
