[13:06, 03/05/2022] HO Reuter: What dose yohimbine/ atipamezole do you give to reverse 10 mg medetomidine? To reduce downtime darting from helicopter I have recently used Thianil 3 mg + medetomidine 5 mg + azaperone 20 mg + ketamine 25 mg on nyala bulls, downtime 4-5 min, but for darting on the ground prefer Thianil 2 mg + medetomidine 3-4 + azaperone 20 mg. Using this from chopper downtime>7 min. We pay N$8000- 9000 per hour chopper time now in Namibia, so costs saved in cheaper regimes are gobbled up quickly with increased chopper time. Priority remains safe and effective immobilisation for the animals, so many factors to weigh off and consider, which I still find challenging for some species (e.g. nyala). [13:08, 03/05/2022] David Pretorius: 1ml of a mixture of Atipamezole 2mg mixed with 6.25mg Yohimbine But usually I dont reverse them at all, I only give naltrexone. [13:18, 03/05/2022] Luis Amaral: Using Hyalase in nyala is a must.
