Annie Mears, 10 October 2024 Has anyone been using the new Doraject ADE in wildlife? I used it (off label when I went and checked) for one of my new horses and it’s had a massive reaction (see the photo below). Has it been tested in any species other than cattle and sheep? And it didn’t work because he still has ticks! Ilana van Wyk, [10 Oct 2024 at 18:52:29]: I had the same reaction in horses. It will only work against soft ticks, such as blue ticks! Annie Mears, [10 Oct 2024 at 19:10:12]: It is those ones I’m trying to get rid of! But glad to know it’s not just me! Danie Odendaal, [10 Oct 2024 at 19:49:18 (10 Oct 2024 at 20:14:53)]: It only works against the one host tick (blue ticks) where the larvae, nymphs and adults suck blood on the same animal. It has not been tested in horses. Nico Du Preez, [11 Oct 2024 at 20:28:34]: I have used it in plenty of wildlife species: sable, buffalo, impala, nyala, eland, kudu etc., with no issues. I won’t use it in horses as its not registered. Nele Sabbe, [11 Oct 2024 at 20:39:19]: I have used Doraject a lot in horses. I have had a bit of a reaction only once, but not even 10% as bad as the one on the photo. Although not registered for horses, it works great for horses that have wounds and people are not able to treat them on a daily base to prevent maggots.
