Neil Parsons, [28 Oct 2022 at 10:11:02]: Good morning all, I have some questions about barrels on a Pneudart 389. One of our older guns will throw a complete wobbly every now and then. On higher power settings, the dart will exit fine, but halfway there will start to fishtail and then tumble. In a centre-fire rifle I’d expect this in a gun with worn rifling or a damaged crown. Can you wear out the rifling in a Pneudart? Is the rifling even that significant when you’ve got a liquid inside the dart that initially won’t rotate at all? Alex Lewis, [28 Oct 2022 at 17:17:49]: The last two cm of barrel normally to blame for what you talking about. Look for burr or something on the end of the barrel. Henry Labuschagne, [28 Oct 2022 at 17:19:16]: You have to clean the barrel properly and look for damage. Very unlikely that rifling is damaged. Also dismantle and clean the ports properly from carbon. Check for O-ring not sealing properly at the barrel. Neil Parsons, [28 Oct 2022 at 17:46:59]: Thanks for that. Will do a thorough inspection and service and see if we have an improvement Pierre Nel, [01 Nov 2022 at 06:40:21]: Neil - are they all filled to the brim? The dynamics of heavy/ light ( fluid / air) in a spinning, accelerating and decelerating projectile is bound to destabilise it. Neil Parsons, [01 Nov 2022 at 14:38:23]: Yes all filled to correct dart volume. Definitely the rifle causing trouble in this case… Henry Labuschagne, [01 Nov 2022 at 18:16:50]: Neil. Post a video
