Agustina Fitte, 12 Mar 2025 Hi all. I had a case of cysticercosis today on a roan antelope. It was a massive cyst with another one inside. I thought this would be of interest. Dave Midgeley, 16 Mar 2025 Cysticercus? Maybe Hydatidosis? Did the "cyst" have many heads inside. Anna Verster did a lot of work on tapeworm in game species, as did Joop Boomker. I do see "pearls" from time to time and larger cysts in organs, in the abdominal cavity and in the brain. I have not seen one like this though. Interesting indeed. I would like to try and identify it. Did you keep a few heads in formalin or alcohol? Agustina Fitte, 16 March 2025 Hi Dave, thanks for that info. Yes, we kept several samples and have sent it for ID. We plan to write a case report on it. I’ve seen one before on the gluteal muscle of a sable but not a as big as this one. This roan cow comes from the zoo farm in Mokopane, so that can explain it all. Please if you find that discussion would love to go through it. Very interesting case.
