Jonathan Allison, [30 Jan 2025 at 9:58:13 AM]: Good morning all. One of my colleagues is going to see a zebra foal with constipation that it has had for the past 2 days. Apparently, the client’s dogs “brought the foal to the house”. They are now wanting to hand raise the foal. Neither of us have any experience in raising zebra foals. We are assuming it is similar to a horse foal. Any specific differences to be aware of? As far as the constipation is concerned, what are things to look out for specifically and possible treatment? I will have more information once we have seen the foal, I just want to know if there are specific zebra things to keep in mind. Thank you. A tsp Epsom salts in the formula as a once off, tends to get things going or just a gentle, very slow warm water enema. Nele Sabbe, [31 Jan 2025 at 7:57:58 PM]: Don't feed too much per feeding time. They do have sensitive stomachs. And as said: use the foal milk replacer. And... they are in general monsters to handle! 😉
