Richard Burroughs [18 October]: Morning everyone. Has anyone used the low opioid protocol doses on hirola ? Captive environment or wild? Alternative red hartebeest? Many thanks Alex Lewis, [18 Oct 2022 at 14:15:55]: My 5 cents on Lichtenstein and red hartebeest. They do so well on normal opioid and azaperone - i have ground darted animals and lost them for hours, but recovered them later with no mortalities. I can't say that for any alpha 2 mixes. Richard Burroughs [2 November 2022]: Feedback from Mathew Mutinda : The animals are successfully herded into nets, and then hand-injected with etorphine and azaperone: Bulls - 3 mg etorphine + 30 mg azaperone; Cows - 2,4 mg etorphine + 25 mg azaperone. These are restrained in bags, loaded into a helicopter, taken to release site and reversed with diprenorphine.
