Joel Alves, 5 Nov 2024 Morning all. With regards to black rhino horn transmitters, have any of you found one brand/type to be superior to another in terms of longevity and size for figment? Andre Uys, 23 Nov 2024 Hi Joel, I can’t remember the model number, but Telonics do a very nice and small modular delay unit with a short antenna. It’s a doddle to fit and I generally got about 18 months good service out of them, running 10-14 hours per day. I have not had any fail. Joel Alves, 23 Nov 2024 Thanks a lot Andre. And what are you usually sealing with? Andre Uys, 23 Nov 2024 Pratleys Steel Putty. Much easier and less messy to use than dental acrylic. Unknown, 24 Nov 2024 Andre, how many packs of putty do you use per transmitter usually ? And does it easily pack into the antenna hole ? Andre Uys, 24 Nov 2024 Depends on transmitter size but usually less than a pack if the hole is drilled properly. Its very easy to work with. Layer the inside of the hole with some putty before placing the transmitter. Push the unit into this and slowly fill the gaps with small balls and a blunt probe to press them down and make sure there are no air bubbles.
