Luis Amaral, [22 Nov 2022 at 13:33:36]: Hi colleagues. Can anyone assist. I need to immobilize a ring-tail lemur to remove a tumour. Any advice on the anaesthesia protocol? It's quite wild, so I have to dart her. Bart Gazendam, [22 Nov 2022 at 14:09:22]: Hi Luis, what kind of setting is the animal? Zoo? Luis Amaral, [22 Nov 2022 at 14:11:51]: Is a large enclosure monkey type Cobus Raath [22 Nov]: Luis Amaral, [22 Nov 2022]: Thank you for the article, appreciate your input. Bart Gazendam, [22 Nov 2022 at 16:40:38]: We mostly capture them with a net (but we have very good curators) and then gas them with isoflurane… (wear gloves when you get them out the net), just if you want to avoid darting😉 good luck Robert Campbell, [01 Dec 2022 at 06:35:43]: I know it may be too late now Luis. But during time in zoo's, I literally used 0.05 mg Zoletil although I know iy may not be cheap. Also on some occasions, medetomidine, ketamine and midazolam in knock down and had plenty time to work if kept on isoflurane intubation. Decreased stress and very little injuries. Give me a shout if you need more on the surgeries I performed. Luis Amaral, [01 Dec 2022 at 07:06:14]: Thank you Robert. I did the surgery on the lemur with 0.2 ml Domitor and 0.2 mg ketamine. Worked very well - reversed with atipamezole, and very happy with the outcome.
